One of the main reasons I wanted to visit St. Maarten was to take this photo. I had seen it on the Travel Channel a few years ago and have wanted to visit ever since. The beach is at the end of the landing strip and it seems like you could reach up and touch the planes when they come in.
The beach cleared out a bit after a brief rain shower and I was able to get a shot with Nicole in it.

Oh my goodness, I think that is equally scary and cool at the same time. I always feel like planes are about to drop out of the sky when they land; can't imagine having one that close!

That is amazing! I would definitely feel scared seeing a jet that close, and would not not want to be directly under it! Awesome pic! :)
The fact that I know this goes on everyday took the scary out of it and just made it cool. What was a little scary is when they take off. If you are on the beach in the path of the jet stream you get sand blasted.

That's so strange. Difficult to imagine a set up like that being allowed in the US or here in the UK.
