I've been wanting to try free-lensing and finally got around to it. You take your lens off the camera and just hold it out front. The idea is that you can get some weird tilt shift effects where the plane of focus is at different angles. I didn't really get it to work, but I thought this image was at least cool to look at. I don't think it's really my thing but I'll probably try it again with a person as the subject.

Wait, what? Does your camera take a picture w/ no lens attached?
I'm with Jan NO LENS or do you just hole it in front of the camera "sort of"
Yes, I believe all Canon cameras will fire without the lens attached. You have to set your shutter speed manually and the fstop will read as 00.
And yes, you hold the lens out front "sort of". :)
I should have included a link.

Neat effect Matt. There's been a few things I've wanted to try with out a lens attached but I'm always so paranoid of getting my sensor so dirty. :(
Getting dust on the sensor is a concern when doing this. I used my "old" camera for that reason but did you see my booger sucker post a few days ago. They can be blown off :)
