This is a new bird for me. It's a female Rose-Breasted Grosbeak. The males are black and white with a red spot on their chest. I saw the male but wasn't able to get any shots.
Just some ordinary house finches but I liked having two birds in the frame.
I put up a finch sock a couple weeks ago and have had lots of gold finches.

and a black capped chickadee. I also saw a male and female cardinal but they didn't land where I could photograph them.

I love all your bird pictures. I really like the one of the gold finch.
How cool to get so many kinds of birds right on your back yard. I even got a bird feeder and we haven't seen any getting near it. These pictures are so pretty!
Your Grandpa, your Dad and I walked across the road one Saturday evening and when we got about 20 yards past the old gate, Dad stopped and said "did you hear that?" I said what, he says "a rose breasted grosbeak". We walked almost all the way up the hill to the garage before we spotted it in a locust tree about 30 yards East of the old garage :)
