New To Me Camera

I decided the new pro level cameras were just too expensive for me right now so I turned to the used market.  I picked up this 1D Mark II on eBay for only $521.  It's only one model newer than the one I have but has double the pixels and the same auto-focus performance.  It was important to me to find one with a low shutter count.  This one only has 11,280 photos taken on it, compared to my 1D classic which is now at 88,000.  If you want to find out how many shots you have on your camera check out http://www.camerashuttercount.com/ Upload the last picture you took with your camera and it will tell you the shutter count.

Congrtats on the new camera Matt! I did do the shutter count, 6707 photos since Christmas Day thats close to 67 pictures a day. LOL
I actually thought it would be higher then that. Do you have any idea the typical amount of shutter clicks a camera has before it is considered "bad"?

Oh nice!! I had no idea how to check the shutter count. That website doesn't work for me but maybe I need to try an unedited shot.

Pam, you're definitely getting good use out of your camera at 67 a day. :)
When I did the shutter count on the new camera it also had a message that this was 6% of it's rated usage. That would put the rating around 180,000. I have seen people claim 400,000 though. I guess it's like predicting how many miles you can put on a car before it won't run anymore. It's different every time.

Jan, I think it does need to be unedited.

Congrats on your new camera! I too just upgraded my camera and have added a Nikon D7100 to my arsenal. (It currently has 71 shutter clicks LOL!) Here are some shots from my first day out with the camera. http://imagegatherer.wordpress.com/2013/04/03/duckpondtest/

My old D3200 (which will still be used from time to time) has 5177 shutter clicks - still plenty of life in it. :-)
